BALA, Emé, and West Srk reflect the diversity and creative evolution of Spain’s contemporary music scene.

ICEX, the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and Fundación SGAE—under the Sounds from Spain umbrella—are heading back to LAMC in New York (USA), taking place from July 28 to August 1, 2026.

The Sounds from Spain Showcase will take place on Thursday, July 30, at DROM as part of the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), which will be held in New York City from July 28 to August 1, 2026.

From internationally acclaimed rock duo BALA to rising urban artist Emé and genre-bending newcomer West Srk, this year’s Sounds from Spain showcase at the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), brings together three artists whose careers reflect the evolution of contemporary Spanish music.

Taking place July 30 at DROM in New York City, the showcase offers industry professionals, media and fans a look at a generation of artists expanding the global reach of Spain’s music scene while forging distinctly individual creative paths. Though their artistic backgrounds differ significantly, all three represent a music culture that is increasingly diverse, internationally minded and resistant to easy categorization.

BALA

Over the last decade, BALA has become one of the most internationally recognized rock acts to emerge from Spain. Formed in Galicia by Anxela Baltar and Violeta Mosquera, the duo’s uncompromising blend of punk, grunge, stoner rock and metal has taken them across Europe, North America, South America, Japan and Australia. Following four acclaimed albums and appearances at major festivals around the world, BALA arrives at LAMC as one of the strongest examples of Spain’s ability to export alternative music on a global scale while remaining fiercely independent and artistically uncompromising.

Emé

Part of a new generation of artists reshaping Spain’s urban landscape, Emé combines rap, melody and emotionally direct songwriting into a sound that feels both contemporary and deeply personal. Originally from Girona, she first gained attention through social media before translating that momentum into a growing streaming audience and an increasingly engaged fan community. Her rise reflects the changing ways artists connect with listeners today, building audiences that extend far beyond geographic boundaries and positioning her among the most promising new voices in Spain’s urban scene.

West Srk

For West Srk, genre is less a destination than a starting point. The Galician artist has steadily developed a sound that moves between urban music, alternative pop and electronic influences while maintaining a strong sense of identity. Following the release of his debut EP, Mi Cruz, he quickly expanded his audience and positioned himself among the most promising new names in Spain’s independent scene. His latest project, ATLÁNTICO, further embraces experimentation while showcasing the artistic ambition driving his evolution.

Together, the three artists illustrate the diversity defining Spain’s current musical moment. Different backgrounds, different influences and different audiences converge in a showcase that celebrates not a single sound, but the many voices shaping contemporary Spanish music.

Beyond the showcase, Sounds from Spain will also participate in LAMC’s professional programming, bringing a delegation of Spanish music companies and industry representatives to New York to strengthen relationships with partners throughout the Americas and explore new opportunities for collaboration across the global music business.

This year’s delegation includes representatives from Fundación Industrias Creativas (BIME), Black Box Mastering, La Clau del Music, pianist Elsa Muñiz, artist managers, and other independent professionals who represent Spain’s contemporary music ecosystem.

For more than a decade, Sounds from Spain has promoted Spanish artists and music companies internationally, helping foster cultural exchange and expand opportunities for Spain’s music sector around the world.

Attendees will also be invited to a complimentary Spanish wine happy hour during the showcase, creating an informal setting for networking and conversation among artists, industry professionals and guests.

The platform for the internationalization of Spanish music will hold its official showcase on Thursday, September 17, at the Resonanzraum venue in Hamburg

Sounds From Spain will once again participate in the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg—one of the leading international events for live music and the European music industry—with a showcase scheduled for September 17 at the Resonanzraum venue. The Spanish platform will present a selection of four acts that reflect the diversity, creativity, and international appeal of today’s Spanish music: Le Parody (Born! Music), Melani (Clipper’s Music Group), La Amenaza Constante, and Señora Biónica (both on Subterfuge Records).

Spain’s participation is part of the internationalization initiatives promoted by Sounds From Spain, the platform comprising ICEX Spain Export and Investment, the General Directorate of Performing Arts and Music (DGAEM), the SGAE Foundation, AIE, PROMUSICAE, UFi, and A.R.T.E., which promotes the presence of Spanish artists and companies in major international music markets. The Reeperbahn Festival is one of the key events of this initiative, bringing together thousands of industry professionals, media representatives, agents, and programming directors from around the world each year. This event is coordinated and organized by PROMUSICAE with the support of ICEX Spain Export and Investment, the General Directorate of Performing Arts and Music (DGAEM), and AIE (Artists, Performers, and Musicians).

This year’s Spanish lineup brings together musical acts with very distinct identities but with one thing in common: a contemporary, innovative perspective that is open to international exposure.

Le Parody: Electronic Music and Folklore Without Borders

The artist and producer Le Parody has become one of the most distinctive voices on the Spanish independent music scene thanks to a style that combines folk, experimental electronic music, and a strong spirit of exploration. Her music blends musical traditions from different parts of the world with contemporary production and a unique artistic vision that has led her to perform on numerous international stages.

Melani: A New Generation Without Labels

At just 19 years old, Melani is one of the most promising emerging artists on the Spanish music scene. After gaining widespread recognition as the winner of *La Voz Kids* and Spain’s representative at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, she has developed her own project that combines pop sensibilities, classical vocal training, and great interpretive versatility. His work symbolizes the emergence of a new generation of artists capable of moving effortlessly between different musical worlds.

The Constant Threat: Shoegaze and Emotion from Donostia

Hailing from Donostia, La Amenaza Constante ranks among the most promising bands on the new Spanish indie scene. Their sound, built on a combination of luminous melodies, expansive guitars, and immersive atmospheres, draws inspiration from shoegaze, noise pop, and indie rock. The band is currently promoting its debut album, establishing a sound that bridges San Sebastián’s musical tradition with contemporary international influences.

Señora Biónica: Irony, Post-Punk, and the DIY Spirit

The Madrid-based duo Señora Biónica brings a sharp, contemporary take on post-punk to the lineup. Their music combines powerful rhythmic foundations, lo-fi production, pop melodies, and lyrics brimming with irony that address the social and cultural concerns of a new generation. With a strong DIY ethos and a debut that has generated a great deal of interest within the alternative scene, the band is emerging as one of the most exciting acts of the moment.
