M for Montreal is an annual 4-day music event that takes place in various locations in Montreal, Quebec.

Founded in 2006 as a collaboration between Sebastien Nasra (Avalanche Prod) and Martin Elbourne(Glastonbury Festival or The Great Escape), M pour Montreal is a catalyst for real business opportunities between artists and professionals of the local and international music industry in Canada. Its work during 17 editions has been to contribute to the promotion and export of selected artists, as well as to position Montreal as an essential city in the North American music scene.

The showcase program is the mainstay of the festival. Specializing mainly in the indie-rock, indie-pop, hip hop, R’n’B and punk genres, it is a unique opportunity to showcase emerging bands to professionals from Canada, the United States and 20 other countries that attend the festival every year. The showcase program includes some 100 bands from around the world presenting their creations over the course of the four-day festival.

M pour Montreal also features a professional space that includes workshops, panels and networking events that provide an ideal setting to connect with the more than 200 international music industry professionals in attendance. Among the panels and conferences, this year’s program devotes special attention to music supervision, with specific activities including an exclusive b2b session with representatives from the region specialized in this part of the industry where companies participating with Sounds from Spain have a guaranteed space.

Why are you interested?

It is an ideal activity for those companies and bands that already have experience in internationalization, especially because to get the most out of the activity it is essential to interact with other delegates, something that favors the atmosphere and spirit of the fair. It is especially recommended for companies that have activities in the United States or Latin America and want to add Montreal to their circuits.

Its small size gives M pour Montreal a very exclusive character. The attendee contact platform allows contact, appointments, invitations and profiles of interest to be made through AI technology.

Tips for getting the most out of the activity

As there is no fixed venue, it is very important to attend all the events organized by the festival. During the three-day celebration, there are a multitude of activities attended by most of the delegates. The organization will monitor the delegates, inviting them to participate in the activities of the fair and the contact between delegates arises organically.

Pre-planning and setting specific objectives is recommended. When it comes to interacting with other delegates, it is essential to know the dynamics of the fair, sign up for networking sessions by topic and make maximum use of the online platform to contact attendees beforehand and schedule meetings in advance.
